Schools to disclose information online
http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/
Information on individual schools, such as how many of their graduates went to college or how many teachers are unionized will be publicized online beginning today, the Education Ministry said.
The disclosure will begin under a new law to promote the transparency of school administration. Students and parents can look up schools` financial balance sheets or what kind of clubs and facilities they have on its website, www.schoolinfo.go.kr or www.academyinfo.go.kr.
Twice annually, the nation`s 11,283 elementary, middle and high schools are required to provide updates as to how many cases of school violence occurred and how they dealt with them. Once a year, the schools will also list facts regarding the meal service, health control and after-school courses.
Also, 414 institutions of higher education will disclose the rate of graduates who were employed or received scholarships among others to help viewers compare and choose. Those who file false information will be put under restraints, the ministry said.
