So, on friday, I was informed that I would be paid on monday, but, it would be half of what I am owed, and in cash. Then she says "maybe a few days go by and I will give the rest" So, this poses two problems for me, for one, I cant send money home as fast as I would like and 2, my pension isn't going to be paid into the first month, therefore, I will lose money in that aspect when I leave. Do I have any way of saying, "look, I need to be paid on time, or else?"
Thanks for the help. |

Yes. You should be cool until you are sure you have your half pay.
Then, you should come in but refuse to teach until you get the rest.
When you get the rest, get the hell out of there because if they are pulling this on your first check... man, you are going to get screwed all the way through.....
her messing with your check was a test... if you let it go.... count on being screwed for a year....
buy a ticket. buy it as soon as you get paid. go home. then go to Taiwan. come back to the K in a year. |

Haha, well, I wish that I could do all that, but, I cant. I only have a year to spare. I do like the way you think though. |

Give them a couple extra days to pay you. If they don't, tell them they have until the end of the week to pay you or you are gone. Quit and contact the labor board to get your money. Could be that your boss didn't get all her money yet...could be a sign of a bigger problem. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I would never let it go beyond one week. If your pay is a week late, there is a problem. |

Maybe you'll be alright. Just wait and see. While it goes against my way of thinking, it could pay to be a little patient.
How do they seem a this place? Are there a lot of students?
I'm not one, like I said before, to be patient with such things. I was fired from my job and my last day was Friday. The company has a new pay day (5th) and they told me that I would be paid on that day. My contract reads the 30th and I was getting paid on that day or earlier every month. While they never paid me late and I truly believed I would get all my money by the 5th, I didn't put up with it. They knew for a long time that Friday was my last day and it goes against ethics to make someone leave their apartment, shut off their Internet, and make them wait for their final pay. NOT GONNA DO IT! I had the secretary and boss(es) talk to head office and they kept getting the same reply: the 5th. But I bugged them and bugged them until finally I went to the bank on Friday and all the money was there. They even paid me up until the 15th o December. They gave me notice even though I only had worked for them for four months. By law they didn't have to.
Anyway, it pays to get a little angry and annoying, but in your case maybe just wait it out. Maybe ask them why you're getting paid late. Making them lost a little face by asking them why they don't have money to pay you on time, etc. would be a good idea. Tell them you have to send money home, etc.
Calmly bug them a little. "So I'm getting all the rest when?" You know what I mean. |

If she is paying you in cash then: tax, pension and medical are all probably out the window as well.
It is standard for pay to be deposited automatically into a Korean bank account and for you to get some sort of pay slip showing deductions. Usually your contract will state what day you will be paid.
You need to speak to her and make it very clear. |

Cash-flow problem from the first day? Expect one heck of a year. |
