Draw whatever conclusions from this thread you like.
My wife and I were leaving our apartment tonight. She's both pregnant *and* on crutches. (Don't ask.)
We walked out the front door of our apartment building into the parking lot and turned left. (It's the only way for us to go to the street.)
Anyway, we'd gone about two steps when this crazy ass mofo in a bongo truck comes barreling down the parking lot (my guess is roughly 30mph) and turns right into us. He screechd to a halt roughly 2 feet from us.
My wife was too startled to really think, and I was too pissed. There was another woman watching the whole situation and she was screaming.
I walked up to the driver's window and started punching it with my fist. The guy lowered the window and started proclaiming in a falsetto, apologetic voice "I saw you the whole time, I saw you the whole time" in Korean.
This happened at 7:30 pm tonight, in an unlit parking lot. Yeah, I really think that safety is not exatly job one in this country. Not at all. |

| The only conclusion I can draw is that you never know when you're going to get hit by a bad driver behind the wheel of a bongo truck. Life is short. Play hard. |

Oh my gosh! Dejavu!!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me when my wife and I were walking down the street, only I opened the guy's door and pulled him out. As I was pulling him out, he tried to do some funky TaeKwonDo thing to my arm. He then jumped out and tried to kick me with some flying TaeKwonDo kick, but I just backed away, and he slammed his foot into the car door. I think he broke it, because he crumpled over in pain. I then laughed at him as he was rolling around on the ground. I had to urinate, so I dropped my drawers and decided to relieve myself on his face. That's when I woke up, because my wife was screaming at me for peeing in the bed. |

Sorry to hear that happened to you and your family. Hope you taught this guy a lesson. People like this run over young children are the bane of any society.
Happens all too often. How many times do we hear about people being hit in Korea? Almost a post a month about an FT sees his kid get hit by a driver. They most certainly need some saftey laws here. We're all sick of having our lives hang in the balance of a missed inch.
EDIT: Didn't realize you thundarr you were the poster. Hope you die and rot in hell... Give my regards to the rest of your family though. |

Thanks. You never know how you will react until it happens to you. My first impulse was to pull the guy out of the truck and to (attempt) to beat him to a pulp. But then while I was standing there with the fight or flight reflex kicking in and my wife still standing in front of the truck I wasn't really sure what to do. In retrospect, I wish I'd carried through with my impulses...the guy was clearly a menace. But I had other things on my mind.

bongo trucks seem to drive like maniacs sometimes. I don't know if it's because they have trucks and feel immune to damage or because they make so little money they feel they have to rip around everywhere like maniacs to make a chon-won.

Driving home today I almost got into an accident again. I seem to attract the idiots around me.
I'm going through an intersection (straight) with a green light, maybe a car-and-a-half length between me and the guy ahead of me, and this moron decides that instead of slowing down and stopping to wait for us to proceed (there was a huge tourist bus behind me), he'd just cut right in and force me to slam on the brakes. I then honked at him for a good second or two.
His reaction...stop in the middle of the road about 20m further down and look at me through his mirror. I then honked again to get his ass in gear, so he pulled to the side at the next side-street and got out. I turned on that street and just laughed at him as he almost got hit by the bus that was behind me.
Really, how hard it is it to be considerate while driving? |

Classy, Eze. Judging by the posts you're making tonight, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you're under the influence of something. Otherwise there's just no excuse for some of the stuff you're saying. |

Just yesterday I was innocently careening through the alleys of my neighborhood in my trusty Bongo truck, and what happened?
Sure enough another of those irresponsible married couples comes walking along--full speed!--and almost crashes right into my truck.
Of course the police are totally prejudiced in favor of waegukin, so I didn't even bother to call. I just yelled at the man for a few minutes, but he could only respond in some kind of primitive grunting language.
Be careful out there, all you Bongo enthusiasts! |

Nah, Thundarr and I go way back...
He thought that I think children should be beaten (which I don't) it's a misunderstanding. So we've been exchanging flames.
Regardless, I'd never wish on him to die, It was a joke.
I'm happy no one got hurt. Especially not a pregant woman. |

| I think its true. Safety is secondary to staying on schedule or allowing the rest of the world to feel safe in your presence. Cars are newer to this culture than they are to Americans. I had some guy drive up behind me and start honking his horn at 7:15 in the morning... on the sidewalk. It rubbed me the wrong way, ok I can't stop people from driving on the sidewalk, I accept that but being honked at from point blank range was RUDE! |

Way back? You joined in March this year.
Also, I'm not sure mentioning Thundarr in the middle of a thread he's not even part of can be called "flaming." I think he needs to be present to be flamed. From the "Anti Foreigner Nutjob Interview Translated" thread Ezewong wrote:

The term "Way back" is like the phrase "we go way back". It's not meant to be taken literally. And "way back" regardless is subjective. I didn't know the "difinitive time placements phrases" police was on patrol here.
And the flaming I'm talking about doesn't occur in that thread, it occurs in another older (I used the term older, maybe you should see how old it is and argue with me on that) thread about a girl being hit by her teacher.
This stuff is so off topic. As much as I hate thundarr, there's really no reason to start talking about this in the middle of his thread. |
