I like to consider myself computer hardware/software literate. But I can't figure out how to set my avatar on this web site. Kinda urks me.

Probably something about it in the FAQ...

but anyway, you need to link to an outside source, as in 'you can't link to a photo that's only on your computer.' I guess flickr or facebook or something...i got mine from 'the brick testament.' I used to use wikipedia ones but the last one I tried to get from them didn't work for some reason.

If it's a protected image, it won't work.

Oh, wait...maybe you can't do it because you're a new user. I think avatar priveleges are withheld here due to really nasty image postings by a disgruntled ex-member generally known as He Who Shall Not Be Named or otis or something like that.

Thanks to him, we can't post pix at all anymore.

Ahh ok, that makes sense now. Thanks for clueing me in. I knew I looked through the different settings thoroughly. Darn those who ruin it for others. I ha a good picture of Bush about to eat a kitten like a cob of corn.
