| I've heard from a few people that any NSET who does a camp automatically gets 30k/won day, whether or not actual classroom time for the week exceeds the 22hrs stipulated in the contract. Can anyone confirm this? |

And that would be in addition to your regular pay and benefits? |

Right. So if I got 2.0/mo and did 2 weeks (10 days) of camp (for any amount of time), I'd be getting 2.3 for the month. So I've heard. |

I think what you're referring to is the fee you get for teaching at another school. Not sure if it's standard, but say you do a district camp, or a three way with two other schools...you can get some extra cash. However, if you remain at your school's campus tot each, no money. Last year, my BS "English Centre" had the teacher from across the school pitch (teacher who works in a building not 100 m from my own) walk across said pitch to teach and she got 30,000. a class.
I'd be really interested to hear about any official communications on the matter though, as I heard some schools got a memo about winter camps and vacations. |

Yeah I just heard about that memo too. They say it standardizes vacations, but I know of a friend who's already bought her ticket home for a six week vacation b/c her school said she didn't need to do a camp. So this will be interesting. |

Before our plans were blown to hell (Korean teacher from another school on a rampage, lol) we were plainning on sharing Winter Camp with 2 other schools...
No 30k/day, however, they were going to give us 10k per worksheet that we created (read: stole from the internet) for our textbook (to a max of 25 worksheets) |

Wow, cool, thanks. You just explained what my co-teacher, admin guy and district whitey wrangler couldn't.
Who knew it could be so simple? |

I don't think it's not a mandatory thing. I volunteered but maybe I shouldn't have b/c I don't think my school wanted to open the doors/have a camp during the winter break. I wouldn't have earned the extra 30,000 Won per day if I had to have my own camp but the chance to get 6 weeks would be GREAT! For one reason or other, I don't think she'll get it though. |

For SMOE:
If you work at a camp at your school, and you do 20 hours or less, you get no extra money.
If you go to another school and do a camp, then you do get a little extra money for the transportation.
Now, some schools will pay you extra for your camp. My school wasn't until I complained that I was being denied a paid "District Camp" to do the unpaid School one. My school paid me for my camp.
In fact, the seongdong education district sent out a memo to all the schools in the area saying the schools can pay the native teachers for the camps. Of course, they made it clear that it was up to the school's discretion to pay or not pay.
My school had to pull a Korean English teacher from a different school to teach my 3rd/4th grade camps. That teacher got paid more than me hourly. We worked the same camp, same hours, and she get like 10,000w MORE an hour. |

Bump, I'm in Seong Dong and will be spending two weeks teaching at another school in the district....my co-teacher said no extra pay, but perhaps she doesn't know that much about it.
What gives? |

If you're in Seongdong-gu we have a pretty decent NSET rep... PM me and I'll shoot you her email addy...
My school is doing a 3 week camp (2 in Jan, 1 in Feb) and I think I'm being paid the 30k per day now... Though it was explained to me rather oddly that the 30k was a maximum the school could pay you, and that you only got it by working 4 classes a day for 5 days in a week or something... |

| Sorry for bumping up the SMOE camp thread, but does anyone have suggestions for volunteering at other camps in hopes of making extra dough? SMOEWorld seems to be down, and my school and district are absolutely unhelpful when it comes to such details. |
