| Quote: |
A South Korean was charged on Monday with detaining, drugging, and raping his 23-year-old English tutor on several occasions last month.
Choi Chan, a 51-year-old native of Seoul, was charged at the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) after Assistant City Prosecutor Rodrigo T. Eguia found probable cause in the case.
Eguia recommended no bail for the accused.
According to records, Chan was arrested on the afternoon of October 31 by members of Station 5 of the Manila Police District (MPD) in a rescue operation at the Imperial Garden Hotel on Mabini Street in Malate, Manila, where the accused is temporarily billeted.
The tutor said that Choi had been holding her captive at his hotel room for three days, drugging her and repeatedly raping her.
The woman met Choi through a friend.
In her statement to the Women and Children Protection Desk, the tutor said she met Choi early in the morning of October 29 at the Soho Hotel in Malate, Manila, for the tutorial. Choi had reserved a room at that hotel.
She said before she could start teaching, Choi offered him a glass of water. After drinking it, she felt dizzy. Choi then molested her.
But when Choi went out of the room for a few minutes early in the morning of October 31, she managed to call her friend to ask for help.
The policemen and hotel employees who rescued the victim in the afternoon of that day found her still in a drugged state but coherent enough to relate her ordeal. - GMANews.TV |

| Yes, do be careful. Don't forget the female teacher who was killed in Japan too. This is a very rare occurence, but don't ever let your guard down. And unless they are children, you should always do it in a public place. |

Maybe he thought that was an English immersion technique.
No, scratch that. He was just a disgusting perv. |

| The sad thing is, it made the news. If it hadn't, at least the girls family could have made him 'dissapear'. It's amazing how many people picked up by the police and immigration for expulsion never make it to the airport.... |

What the guy did was heinous and he should be casturated. On the other hand, where was the woman's common sense?
"Hey, Miss young and 23 year old foriegner, why don't you go and teach this man, who is a compelte stranger to you but I know the guy, some English. He's middle aged and he wants you to come to his hotel room to teach him. Alone. Just the 2 of you. In a Hotel."
"Ok! Just tell him to have the money ready!" |

Yes, the lady didn't exhibit a lot of common sense. But think about it. Her friend said it was ok. How many of you would tutor someone in their home (alone) on the word of a friend? I bet a lot.
What's really screwed up is that he can probably pay his way out of the situation, and leave the country.... |

| When privates go badly. Even if a friend insisted a guy is harmless you would still want to do it in a public space. Hotel rooms can be potential prisons if you think about it. |

This was in the Phillipines. 최선생님 was the foreigner, not the other way around. |

Are you suggesting some of these disappearing Koreans in the Phillipines (googling Korean phillipines missing turns up tons of cases, and that's in English) disappear because they were doing this kind of monkey business and the girl's family made their own justice? I like it, but they should let some of these make news like this. |

The first three pages of that google search turned up ship collisions, scuba accidents, typhoon missing, war missing, etc. nothing about random Koreans missing.
I am saying though that it's very easy and very cheap to make annoying people go away.
And I completely support making people like that hotel guy "go away". Country of origin doesn't matter.
I remember a case of the family getting justice about five years ago, but it was pretty f-ed up. Apparently a guest at a wedding reception touched the brides butt. So a couple of her relatives killed the guy and ate part of him.
At my own wedding there, security was tight. The place we rented (the sports complex in the city) asked if there was some external threat. Nope. Just don't want family gettin' all juiced up and killing each other. As it was, we almost lost a kid in the pool, and a couple of the young guys set fire to a nipa hut. |

Try telling that to the millions of Koreans overseas who still refer to the natives as "외국인." |

Funny you mention that. Koreans both in China and Canada say that as a foreigner, my Korean is pretty good.
No, no, no: YOU are the foreigner here in Canada, Mr. Kim. |

No, it's sparkling
There are lots of koreans who want to GET AWAY from here and would rather live in North America. Btw, they call themselves 의국인
The Japanese do this to btw, because they are "superior" to everyone.
