I am planning to leave my (bad) haekwon and start a university job in March. I am only 6 months in however and am wondering, if I don't receive a release letter or some kind of permission, is it possible to get a new E-2 visa issued? How does that work? Can I cancel my current E-2 visa and apply for a new one?
Any help would be appreciated |

The Head of Visas at Korean Immigration said the following at the FT seminar a couple of weeks ago:
As soon as you leave the country without a re-entry permit your visa is cancelled. Basically, handing in your arc card at the airport terminates that E2 visa and you are free to get a new one. However, immigration did say there might be problems getting a new one if you leave early, but I think that was a crock of dung. The seminar was put on by the Korean Hagwon association. |
