I make good money with private students. German is an exotic language here in Asia. People wanna learn it b'coz studying at a german university is still for free for foreigners.

Now here is my luxury problem: I'm teaching German to some very rich people's kids and they asked me if they can pay me with their credit cards - they don't carry cash with them or have some at home(as they say - lazy bastards). Sorry, they are already fluent or have already private English teachers too. No way I can introduce you to them. Sad Arrow

Where do I get a mobile credit card machine (I don't know the German word for it so I'm unable to translate it into English and to google for it) that they can pay me?

Or can they just wire the money by using their credit card at any ATM?

Oh, plz no legal advice. I know my lessons are "private".Their cards will not be tracked back.

And nothing I can promiss - with one English teacher they are unsatisfied Rolling Eyes

Just tell them the truth; you can't accept payment by credit card and that it'll have to be either cash, bank transfer or an hour upstairs with his missus.

If you have an E-2 visa I would strongly advise you not to accept bank transfers because you cannot earn money by anyone other than your visa sponsor. You would be leaving an obvious trail of your illegal activity. If you are worried about being paid by a credit card then a bank transfer isn't any different, both leave paper trails.

Remember, account numbers and credit cards can be tracked. Private lessons are illegal.

The world is full of "rich" people who are up to their ears in debt. That's not "rich" by my standards -- that's stupidity.

Insist on cash, or politely thank them and say no.

I must admit, if you are not on an "f" visa then refuse credit card payments. It's too much of a paper trail.

Also, bare in mind, if you accept credit card payments you have to pay a fee to the credit card company (can be as high as 5%).

This is Korea, there are ATMS literally on every street corner and they have very reasonable openning hours. It is also very safe, so there's no risk carrying cash. I'd insist on cash.

You, OP, have the power. You have the goods. You are the supplier. If a buyer wants them, they have to play by your rules.

Cash only. Not only because I second what BE said about legality (I mean, would a drug dealer take a credit card or personal check???), but because you are the manager, the owner and the supplier.

I was looking into this like a month ago. It was cheap for sure, but I didn't find anything that was FREE. Got a link?

Don't do VISA

its a big rip off

I installed it to make payments easier for my students BUT

1. I pay a 3,3% cost on the total amount
2. I pay 91.000 won per month for the service itself
3. I have to wait UP TO 2 MONTHS to get my money.

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of that stupid machine. That or a different service ...

How about using paypal or the google checkout ?

Both are easy to setup and then they can use credit card via internet.

I would look into the paypal option ... and get them to pay the fees associated with a credit card payment.
