My husband and I are trying to find teaching jobs in an international school in Korea. We are high school teachers in Arizona and have two school age boys. Can anyone tell us about international schools in Korea?
It seems like there are a lot but they are mostly christian schools.( We are 7 day vacationists.) Can anyone give us advice? Which school is supposely the best for us to work and for our boys to receive the best education? Does anyone know about internatinoal schools in Pusan? |

There are 2 types of International school in Korea
One type for the Expats, the other for the Koreans.
I am pretty sure you are looking for the Expat ones ...
Not all of them are Christian though, I think only on actually proclaims Christianity, not sure though. |

Seoul Foreign School
Indianhead international School
Asia Pacific International
Gyeongnam International
Geonggi Suwon International
Hope this helps a bit. |

The best international schools do their hiring through international school job fairs. Search online for info about the most reputable organizations that host the job fairs. The hiring season starts after January.
Most of the top international schools in Korea are Christian, but there are a few secular schools that are good, esp. KIS and SIS. Most of their students are Korean ethnicity, but with foreign passports and strong cultural and family ties to other countries (primarily U.S.). KIS and SIS do some direct hiring, apart from job fairs, and even some local hires. It might be worthwhile to contact them directly.
There are many other international schools in Korea that cater more to Korean families. |

The international schools in Korea worth working for are:
Seoul Foreign School
Seoul International School
Yongsan International School of Seoul
Korea International School
They are legit schools with western curriculum, fantastic students, decent to good salary, good benefits, and better than average housing. SFS and YISS are Christian schools. SIS and KIS are not.
The rest of the "international" schools in Korea are not really international schools, despite their names. |
