Same deal as last year, all things pertaining to the upcoming season. To get the ball started, I'll start with the usual questions.
1. Most Overrated (Besides Notre Dame)
2. Most Underrated
3. Best Conference
4. Most Over-Rated Conference
5. Who will play in the National Championship game against OSU?
6. Heisman Trophy Winner
7. Cinderella Team
Thunndarr's List:
1. OSU (note, I don't believe they are deserving anymore of the 'tOSU' moniker.
2. Obviously, Tennessee
3. SEC, yet again.
4. the Big2
5. Probably Florida, if they have any defense this year (as much as I hate to say it.)
6. Tebag...er...Tebow
7. No idea. Let's say Tulsa. |

1. Most overrated- Clemson at preseason #9! Of course, I'm terribly biased here, but Tammy Bowden's teams have ALWAYS choked when the pressure is on, and I can't imagine them mustering a top 10 season, even in a very weak conference. I also think West Virginia will be down this year. I think all the BIG 12 teams are overrated.
2. Most underrated- I'd love to say South Carolina, but alas (sigh)...
3. Best conference- I don't know how anyone could even make an argument for anyone besides the SEC
4. Most overrated conference- I'm gonna go with the BIG 12 this year. I don't see Missouri and Kansas being so great again, which leaves overrated Oklahoma and Texas teams again. A ton of creampuffs each of these teams get to play.
5. National championship- I'm gonna say USC (trojans, not Gamecocks) will be there again. They can breeze through their conference schedule as the usual media darlings. I look for them to meet an SEC team rather than OSU, perhaps Florida (Georgia tends to choke along the way and shoot themselves in the foot. For some reason Florida can stumble and the voters still love them enough to put them in the national championship).
6. Heisman- Tebow, although I'd love to see a surprise emerge.
7. Cinderella team- Michigan. New blood in Ann Arbor, new enthusiasm, weak schedule=good season. I guess Michigan can't really be a cinderella though...how about South Carolina!!! |

Best conference: SEC with the Pac-10 second
Overrated Conference: Big 10 & Big East
National Championship: USC v Florida
Heisman: gotta be Tebow, right?

The Eight Most Important Games of 2008
A lot of SEC teams in that list. I'm surprised Tenn/UF is expected to be that important after the beatdown my boys got last year.
I'm also very, very surprised that Wisc/OSU is on the list instead of Mich/OSU. Any other surprising omissions? |

1. Most Overrated (Besides Notre Dame) Missouri
2. Most Underrated Wisconsin or Texas Tech
3. Best Conference SEC - no doubt about it
4. Most Over-Rated Conference Big Ten - no doubt about it
5. Who will play in the National Championship game against OSU? The polls will mess things up. LSU vs. Georgia or Oklahoma vs. Georgia
6. Heisman Trophy Winner - Tough one, but either Tebow FLA, Bradford OKLA or sleeper Harrell TXTECH.
7. Cinderella Team - I like Rutgers and Cincinnatti to make big runs this year. |

People are expecting very little of Michigan this year due the big changes there. Of course historically, UM seems to do its best against OSU when OSU is expected to dominate. My expectations of UM are low this year (more than usual). I will be happy if they go to a bowl. Also, where is OSU playing UM and UW? If they play at UW, that could be tough. |

With OSU ranked so high, I am going to be painfully homesick on certain Saturdays. |

1. Most Overrated: I would like to say Georgia, since there's no way the team that came to Knoxville last October has any business being ranked #1. Too much is made of their win over Hawaii which any of the twelve teams in the SEC would've taken behind the woodshed, including Vandy. Add in a tough schedule and there's no way UGa will finish #1. Next year they will be great and a logical choice for preseason #1. But not this year.
The team that is even more overrated coming into this season is LSU. Glenn Dorsey got most of the publicity, but they're also really going to miss other defensive players like Craig Steltz, Ali Highsmith, and Chevis Jackson a lot more than people think. Plus, a new defensive coach is taking over. And who the Hell is the QB?
2. Most Underrated: Alabama. They're a very well-coached team that has talent. Even though they lost six games last season, the most anyone beat them by was seven points. And they no doubt have a huge chip on their shoulders after losing to Lousiana-Monroe and Auburn late in the season and should take out a lot of pent-up anger on some teams.
3. Best Conference: SEC
4. Most Over-Rated Conference: ACC edging out the Big 10 on this one.
5. Who will play in the National Championship game against OSU? West Virginia.
6. Heisman Trophy Winner: Timmy Teabag
7. Cinderella Team: Kansas State |
