Obviously dependent on how much you use your heating and what methods you use... but, how much has your bill been in years past?

I bought a small electric space heater recently at Lotte Mart for about 34,000 Won.

According to a guy at my school who has been in Korea for a couple years, using the floor heating can be very expensive, sometimes between 150,000-200,000 Won, depending on how much you keep it on.

He said electric space heaters are much cheaper, so I took his recommendation. So far it's working fine and my most recent electric bill was only slightly higher than before I was using it.

Buy that weather tape for the windows.

Last year, I bought a 2nd space heater, and my school provided one-using both was still cheaper than the ondol. I like the ondol, it's warm and still a novelty, I just am not prepared to pay for it; being a cheapskate in some ways, I pile the blankets on during winter, use 2 hot water bottles and turn in with the touque on my dome.

I dont like the ondol because it superheats everything on the floor and costs an arm and a leg. Nice novelty but not practical. Use the window tape, floor radiator and layer up.

Yeah, I figured the ondol could get expensive. I guess I'll try to get a heater online.

Any thoughts on an electric blanket? Not really my style but... Anyway, good tips, much appreciated!

I brought back 2 water bottles from Canada, but I read in another thread recently that you can get them in a lot of drugstores.

The reason why I got my 2nd heater, and the hot water bottles is that I bought a heating balanket and it conked out after less than 3 weeks. That might be a rare occurrence, but I won't buy another one.

I bought one for the first time a couple months ago - absolutely lllovve it. Economical too. I bought the plastic mat type that goes under the yo (mattress on the floor) but a person could put it under their sheet on the bed too. It heats up fast and stays hot for hours after I turn it off.
