|
|
Does anyone know what it takes to fund your own E-2 visa...like how much it costs? (all together) Do you think any part-time gigs would do me a favor and sign away that I'm working there if I fund it myself? I SOOOOO do not want anymore full time gigs as they are not the thing to do I've found, well for me anyway. Does anyone know of someone that could help me out?...I'm from the states and would rather fund my own than deal with this 3-month BS...assuming I can even get one now that I've got a nice huge previously cancelled E-2 stamp on page 10...(immigration: "hmm, I wonder what he's doing?")
Thanks a lot...

An E2 visa must be sponsored by an employer who is legally allowed to employ a foreign language teacher. You cannot sponsor your own E2 visa. |

yuppers, i think Gord is more than right. You not only need a school but one that is "accredited" (or classified as 'A Hogkwon') or someting to that nature. |

right, but what I'm saying is...that for most part-time jobs where I only put in x amount of hours a week, it wouldn't be practical for them to spend the money to sponsor me airfare and all...but if I could say I was working there to get an E-2 I would reimburse them completely myself, anyone know of a part-time gig where this could be done? |

it costs about 60 bucks US to get an e2.. not much of a saving for the school..
airfare is no big deal, there are plenty of people here already looking for work and it doesn't seem to offer any special incentive for the schools to take anybody in that situation (only for speed ie. start date).
i'm not an expert, but i don't think that situation exists..
i have 18 and 1 half class hours per week, 25 paid sick days and 5 weeks holiday every year... all benefits included.. that must nearly be part time..
go with the flow pal.. we all do |

In funding or offering to pay for your own E2 does not give an employer any advantage. In signing your sponsorship, he is making himself legally liable for you and your actions whilst you are in Korea. What you propose to do can be done in Japan, you can arrange your own work visas, as long as you meet certain criteria. It will be a long time before that happens here. Negotiate a contract with an employer with the terms of work and renummeration you want and see what happens. Good luck! |
