Anybody use short video clips for a listening class or as conversation or writing prompts?
Finding quality videos is consuming. How about building a collection of links here?
Here's a link to a black and white video. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to get the link from my blog and the original Vimeo link.

I love this idea, and I asked a similar question a while back and didn't really get that many responses. The video you posted was very pretty and could inspire a lot of conversation.
Here are some videos I have used in my class:
The Legacy of the Silk Road:

Journey on the Silk Road (music):

Personality Test: (kind of a joke--didn't go over that well)

Food Inc. Review: Waaay to fast--even for the highest level I teach, but I had them look up Industrial Food Systems and factory farming afterward and got some good responses

Molecular Gastronomy stuff: I tried to show them a bit about Molecular Gastronomy, but I didn't really have time to find the best clip. I used portions of these clips

Our Deepest Fear: It kind of worked, it's fast so I gave them a hand out of the words, but the vocab is a little difficult

King's Speech Trailer: It would have been better to show a clip

Nick Vuijic video: Went over well and inspired a lot of conversation

Animator vs. Animation: Not for a lesson, but fun

Powers of ten: I haven't shown this one yet, but I like it

I also want to show Island of Flowers at some point, but it's really difficult to understand--the narrator speaks so quickly.
Grammar Humor:

Power of Words video:

My Fair Lady clip:

I'm still learning how to talk through the videos. If anyone has any good video ideas, please post them! |
