Hey... so, my old passport is expiring in the next few weeks. That means I'll be issued a new one soon. Do I have to get a new VISA or something? Or some kind of stamp?
Anyone been in this situation before? I'm on an E2 visa... |

I had that happen in Japan. I waited a bit until I had to renew my visa because I wasn't leaving the country, and then I went to the US Consulate. They issued a new passport (on the spot if I remember correctly or I had it mailed within a couple weeks) and then went to immigration. Immigration stamped something on my new passport (don't remember exactly what) about my current visa being on the old passport and then when the new one came, I only had to buy 1 visa stamp for the new passport.
No one complained, but I would ask your embassy first. I have been to the US one in Seoul twice and they gave quick service in the morning, with little waiting in the afternoon.

I just renewed my passport (still waiting for it to come).
When you get a new passport you have 14 days to notify Immigration. You take the new passport to the Immi. office and they will 'restamp' it free - in my case, multiple entry. |
