After listening to a lot of the people here talk about the best way to get my computer here (and deciding that sending it from home just wasn't going to be possible), I decided to have a friend take it apart and send it to me here.

So, what should I really be preparing for when the components get here? Do I have to reinstall windows, or will having it on the hard drive that comes here be enough? Obviously, the ram may or may not work, depending upon compatibility with whatever case, motherboard I buy, but what else should I be thinking about. The graphics card is pretty top of the line, so I'm going to be keeping that. Any advice on this, if you were about to do the same thing? I figure I have a few weeks to work this through (as she's going to be sending it tomorrow).

I don't see why the RAM wouldn't work with the motherboard. What kind is it? If you're unsure, just pack the sticks and take them with you whether you buy your components at.

Just buy a motherboard and case. Assemble it (the motherboard is one of the first things you put in, anyway). Or you can just have them assemble it.

To be honest, I don't remember. It's not the very, very latest top one, but it's the one from the last group of cards. I bought it about a year ago.
