If I want to cook just veggies, like potatoes and carrots, how long do you think I need to cook it for? |

Is it even possible. Don't you have a microwave? |

Yeah, but I want to try and use the rice cooker. I was thinking I could put water in it and use it as a steamer... |

Does anyone ever throw a bunch of stuff in the cooker and let it sit for an hour or so? I'm thinking rice, chicken, veggies, etc.
I'm just thinking of creative ways to cook with the rice cooker. |

There's loads of rice cooker cook books. I've got this one, but haven't really used it as I can't find half the ingredients. |

A rice cooker works for a lot of stuff, like a crock pot. I have found that a lot of "quick bread" (ones that use baking power not yeast) work in a rice cooker if you don't need a crunchy crust.
Veggies do well, and soups work well. I make dal and any other bean soup in the rice cooker, cause my stove cooks to hot. |

Potatoes and carrots that are cut up will cook in a rice cooker on the "warm" setting in about six hours. This is similar to the "low" setting on a crock pot. The warm setting is the upper left button on my rice cooker. Costco sells some really nice cans of cut up and cooked beef chunks that can be added to make the stew.

I've always suspected that you could bake bread in a rice cooker...
I'll have to give that a shot! |
