My friends and I would like to go skiing while we're here during our winter break. I've looked into some travel packages with Xanadu and Grace Travel Co. and they seem reasonable enough. Has anyone else done any skiing here or can you recommend a good travel agency to go through?

Thanks!

Hi,

I haven't been yet but I've been looking into it. Is it your 1st time? There are loads of places to go, and generally it's much cheaper if you do it independently.

Definitely way cheaper to do it without an agency.

Does anyone know of any ski resorts that have week long package deals (place to stay plus lift pass) ? I don't live close enough to a ski park to buy a season pass but want to go for week or so without getting ripped off

A lot of ski hills have special package deals for day trips in conjunction with the bus companies.
50-60,000 will get you a return bus ticket and a day lift-ticket.

Korean credit card-holders and those with contract cellphones can usually get discounts of 30-40% on lift tickets at the ticket offices. Paying full-price for anything is a last resort.

I went to Muju twice last year, and it ran me about 100K each of those days. Both were all-day deals. I'll be doing it again this year, only I've got discount coupons this round for 30 percent off.

Muju is good, albeit it's a lot more crowded than, say, Snowbird or Big Sky back in the US, in case you've been to those resorts.

Don't go to Yongpyong. So much ice last year. I expect ice, but they touted being an 2014 Winter Olympic possibility. I expected more. I went fast, I got hurt and I will never go back to Yongpyong. High One is my next location.

Hi everyone,

Regarding High1 (I plan on spending the winter falling on my arse trying to Snowboard there) I heard that it is possible to rent a 6 person chalet for around 200K per person per month. Has anyone else heard about this/would be interested in sharing a chalet for the season (3 months).

I got 6 discount coupons from one of my students. Where she got them, I know not. I imagine one can snag them around the resort towns like Muju.
She works as a forest ranger in the Muju area.
