Investing Korea: Index Fund vs Individual Stocks?

Just to put it out there. If anyone is planning on investing in Korea in the next several years, would you favor an index stock like EWY (that invests in a representative sample of index stocks) or individual stocks like Posco (PKX) and Korea Electric Power (KEP).

If you do your homework, you may be able to find some gems in the next several years. On the other hand, an index stock uses a "portfolio sampling" technique to buy, kind of does your homework for you. So, which would you choose?
