|
|
| Hey there... Anyone know off hand and have suggestions for video/movie/whatever clips that depict at least in part a typical day in the life of an American kid?? I need to make a lesson for a winter camp focusing on "American School Life"... I have no clue what's out there in the way of visual aids for this subject.. If someone has any ideas/suggestions I'd be much oblidged... A clip from a movie would work fine.. but of course, it couldn't include toilet humor/sexual references/drugs... all that stuff... So, a "clean" kids' school life movie? (does such a thing exist?) |

Show them Laguna Beach. This depicts the lives of ALL high schoolers in America. |

Find some old Degrassi episodes. Not that Next Generation stuff.
Try to convince them that in Canada everyone dresses like that too (circa 1988).
Watching Degrassi is what we did English class back in middle school. |

| I think Season 3 of The Wire would be eye opening for them. ^^ |

If you're just using clips, these all have possibilities:
TV Shows
Wonder Years
Malcolm in the Middle
Southpark
The Wire (I think it's the third season that focuses on the kids.)
**EDIT: Hyeon Een got his message in while I was typing.
Movies
A Christmas Story
Matilda
Three O'clock High
Clueless
School of Rock
Freedom Writers
Kindergarten Cop
I'm sure there are a ton of either Nickelodeon or Disney Channel shows about 'normal' school life, but I can't recall the names of any of them. |
