I have heard this is possible and I would rather get it done at the airport to save time. Where or how in the airport do I get it if it is possible?

There's an immigration office between the two security gates. Somewhere near the SK and KT booths, if I remember correctly. Not sure if you can get a multiple entry there though.

I'm almost certain you can only get a single entry stamp there. My wife asked for a multiple visa last year and was told it was impossible. That was at the immigration office between the two security gates.

I guess a single entry stamp is all I need. I assume that it lets me leave the country and come back on my E-2 visa.

That's right. A multiple entry is only good if you plan on taking a vacation during your visa validity period, which most people do. You've got to go to the big Immigration office for that.

I knew this topic existed somewhere but I couldn't find it before.

MORE THAN 1 week before your intended departure you can do it on-line.

At the airport you can get a SINGLE use re-entry permit. 30k won.

At your local immigration office you can get a multi-use permit 50k won OR a single use permit for 30k.

You need your ARC, passport, signed application and appropriate fee.

IT is done while-you-wait. Waiting time will depend on the line in front of you.

The wait is important to remember. If you are planning to get a single entry stamp at the airport, make sure you get there plenty early as there is paperwork and bureaucracy involved, you would hate to miss your flight while waiting.
