basically, see topic.
i've heard that gangwon-do and busan have good vacation policies, though gangwon-do pays better.
are there better and worse POEs, or does it just depend on the school? |

| vacation policies vary school by school based on the principal. i havent heard any complaints from people i know in chungnam province, other than the small town aspect of many placements. seems to be very liberal with vacation days outside of whats specified in the contract. |

As previously stated it does depend on your school. The only guaranteed time off that is the best is through Gangwondo. Busan does have a better record for time off outside of camps. I have a friend who has 5 weeks off this winter... lucky duck!
I'm in Gyeongsangbuk-do and only get my 7 work days. My principal is a pencil pusher and refuses to let me stay home during vacation. So what am I doing? Teaching a one week class for parents of students and their children for 4 hours per day. After that, it's 2 weeks of chairwarming.....
But in the city next to me another friend gets his time to himself. So it really goes to show it depends on your school and the relationship with your principal. ]
Go to Gangwondo.. if not there, try Busan. |

From the anecdotes I've heard, it seems to break down like this:
1. Gangwon-do
2. Chungcheongnam-do
3. Gyeongsangbuk-do
Can't say I've heard much from other areas of the country (Jeolla-do, Chungbuk, Gyeongnam, Jeju), but from what I've heard of Gyeongsangbuk-do, it's the province that is probably going to finish last in any ranking.

ware the contracts are changing ALOT for 2009 intake.
main things will be airfares, housing allowance and perhaps resign bonuses and vacation days.
GangwonDo you get guaranteed 3 weeks in winter and 2 in summer. More if your lucky. |

Hey Hank,
How is Gyeongnam contractually better than Chungnam? |

Contract is essentially the same. Just my school is much more lenient. |
