| Some girls recently joined my Hapkido dojang. My teacher told me I must wear a shirt under my uniform to hide my chest hair. Why? Does he think it will frighten them? Offend them? Arouse them? The other guys go shirtless all the time. |

Not sure, but when I took Tae Kwon Do years back in America, there was a woman who wouldn't wear a teeshirt under her outfit. So she had massive cleavage going on. It wasn't a pretty site. She was a mother in her forties. She would take lessons with her young son. It must have been embarrassing for him. I was really bad with remember names, so I just referred to her in my head as "Cleavage Woman."
There was also "Death Warrant Man." I saw him at the movies when the Oscar-Sweeping Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Death Warrant came out.
There was "Diaper Man". - Guy in his fifities who, I'm pretty sure, had to wear a diaper. My evil friends and I would laugh when we'd hear the squishing noises during his kicks.
And then there was Dan. He was this sleezy guy in his late thirties with a massive porn mustache going on. No one liked him because he was pretty rough when he would spar. He'd make these grunting noises. I referred to him as "Dip Sh!t Dan the Moaning Man."

Dude, that's so mean.
And I was told to cover up for showing parts of my arm. The shirt covered my shoulders and forearms but not the little bit in between. I thought it was innocent looking but apparently I looked like a "movie star". |

It was halfway through the first class they were in. I'm not sure if they'd seen it. There definitely wasn't a scene or anything. No pointing, no gasps. Maybe they mentioned it in Korean?

You're probably right, an the ladies probably mentioned something and he overheard. Don't take it personally, the women probably just found it different and worthy of note, and he was probably worried he'd lose students. My hapkido master won't say anything to the foreign men in the club, but he does critisize his Korean best friend for not wearing a shirt.

The girls I've dated here have loved my chest hair. They played with it and stuff, said it made me look manly.
I'm lucky enough not to have back hair though. I don't know what their reaction would be to that. |

| maybe they just have a serious aversion to body hair here like they do in japan. i read this article for a class a few years ago that ranked things that japanese women found unappealing about men. body hair was number 1. of course *beep* size was way down at 9 or something. at any rate, i don't see too many hairy asian guys so maybe most women here just don't like it because its different to them. who knows. but honestly, i don't remember a lot of my friends back home being that into chest hair. i love it so maybe that makes me the weird one. |
