Knowing the mentality of Koreans, will all their penchants for "Koreans taking over the world" and "First Asians to do this and first Asians to do that", one can only imagine that their bragging rights are greatly diminishing in light of recent political events in the states.

First Cao and now Shinseki. Actually, come to think of it, for all the Korean hyperbole around their desires of accomplishments as the first Asians or Asian-Americans to do this or that, the list is quite slim, insignificant in fact.

It's not a Korean mentality, it's a 'minority' (ie. non-white) mentality. They like to keep track of their 'firsts'. I dont know why, I think it just diminishes everyone. The majority look like they never accepted the minority until the event, and teh minority look inferior until the event.

Koreans are going to take over the world and they've started with the Korean language. They're pretty good I'd say.

For sure.

I can't help but wonder if Shinseki had been Korean rather than Japanese whether we'd be reading in the Korean newspapers about how Korean-Americans are trailblazing ('The Korean Wave Sweeping Across America!', kind of crap) and how sometime very soon in the future there will be a Korean US president. But in Japan right now, they're probably like "Shinseki who?"

Where are you from? I don't find Americans to be that annoying (especially abroad).
