Hi,
I'm coming to Agpujeong area of Seoul next month. If any of you who live in that area would be so kind as to tell me what you think of it..... whats there to do.... pros and cons...things like that.

Also, care to show me around when I get there?

I've taught in Korea before, so I won't be totally clueless. It wasnt' in Seoul though.

Thanks

chicken hofs and soju tents? i think you're either on drugs or in a different "apkujeong" district, but as far as I know there is only one apkujeong in korea.

Maybe you're talking about the "apkujeong station" area, in which case i give your statement some validity, but I am pretty sure when people normally talk about "apkujeong" they are referring to the region between galleria and cinecity.

which, i think, has some of the fanciest and trendiest cafes, lounges and restaurants in korea. a lot of them are hidden though and you have to be able to find them.

also you'll find fashionable, attractive girls (boys also maybe if you're a girl.. but I don't look at boys). not that they'll give you much attention, being as pompous as they are, but hey its a unique eye-candy experience that you can only have in one place on earth

ready yourself for an overdose of superficiality and costliness however

pheel if you're gonna be with a date, a good night out in apku is just your typical night.. movie, dinner, coffee/dessert, lounge/drinks, club (?)

get to cinecity theater around 5-6pm.. buy your ticket for some movie that starts anytime around 7-8.

then go find a place to eat.. if you wanna find western food there is a bennigan's, friday's, etc. but you'll also find other kinds of food (japanese, korean, western, thai, indian, etc.) in apkujeong. make sure you know where you're going though, and make sure the FOOD, more than anything, has good reputation

When you're done with dinner it should be dark. Walk around the streets a bit, watch people, talk, etc. Then go into a nice coffee/cake shop. Indulge yourself, talk, whatever, etc. When you're done go out, walk around, buy some stuff at the nearest 7-11, etc.

Don't forget your movie. Go back to cinecity around 30 min early, walk around a bit check the place out, play some arcades if you want, or whatever. time will fly. watch your movie.

When your'e done, time to hit up some classy lounge with expensive drinks and anju. Call up your friends and go get your drink on, and it's stage two.. as in.. stage two of indulging yourself gastrically.. hell yea anju baby you know what I'm talking about. Don't get yourself too wasted as there will be more drinking to do in the club.

next step is getting your dance on.. go get a bottle or two at circle or answer and party the rest of the night away

Oh man, my (cheapass) heart hurts for how much that date would cost!
Good advice though!

It should run you less than 100,000 won up to the club part:

2 movie tickets: 16,000 won?
dinner for 2: 20,000-40,000 won
coffee and dessert: 15,000-20,000 won
lounge/bar: 20,000-40,000 won

the bottles at the club are killers though.. it's not that bad if you split the bill with your friends though. one bottle of liquor will run you around 300,000-400,000 won at circle

but yea i totally sympathize with you, you can't be spending like this every day but hey if it's just a one-time thing (as for the OP) why not.

I actually do spend almost every day like this in korea Smile (minus the drinking on some days.. but certainly on the weekends)
fortunately, I never had to pay for any tables at clubs as this was always taken care of by a certain friend of mine

anyway have fun in apkujeong Smile
i miss that place
