The new embassy is a beautiful building(very modern and chic). I've been watching the construction take place everyday over the past year(it's next door to my school). No doubt they spent a small chunk of change on it...

Is it a "stand alone" Embassy building?

Wow thanks for telling us... I was gonna go this week to apply for my Canadian citizenship.. I guess I'll have to put it off till later.

BTW, anyone know how easy/difficult it is for a native Korean (born and raised overseas) to get a Canadian citizenship without being super rich?

Whether they sit on their thumbs and do nothing for you in the old location or they sit on their thumbs and do nothing in their new location... it doesn't really matter does it?

Well I think you need 10,000 plus in your bank account. Plus a master's or doctor's degree and years of experience in your feild. Then you can go to Toronto and land yourself a great taxi driver job.

You are a dreamer.

The staff at the Canadian embassy in Seoul are among the worst in the world for being useless, misinformed, lazy and arrogant.

I always get better service from a 3rd world country's embassy than I have ever gotten from a Canadian one (here or in any other country).

I have NEVER had a good experience at one of Canada's embassies or consulates.

It is a Friday at 2:46pm. I tried calling them, but a woman picked up saying "Annyeong Haseyo" then hung up after I said a few words. Then, I tried calling again and it said "This number will not accept incoming calls..."

Grrr...

I agree. The Canadian embassy in Seoul is pretty lousy. It took them 4 weeks to get back to me regard a single question I had, AND I HAD TO FAX THE QUESTION TO THEM!!!
On another note, my (Canadian) friend was there recently with her Korean husband getting information during the designated question-asking time, and every time she said something in English, she was given the hand! The guy talked to her husband in Korean the whole time; the embassy dude wouldn't say a word English.
If this were anywhere else in Korea, it would be normal. But this is the Canadian embassy! She was rightfully pizzed off!

It seems that the Canadian embassy hires only Koreans for those that interact with Koreans. It seems none of them have even stepped foot in Canada.

Here's a novel idea for the embassy in Seoul, why not hire 20 ethnic Koreans who have actually lived, and raised a family, in Canada some 10 or 20 years...
Oh wait, I guess they have to pass a series of aptitude tests, and written tests and be well versed in French. Which cuts down on their pool of Canadian citizens that also can communicate fluently in Korean.

Or, why don't they hire me!! I promise, I would give the best service in the 3 relevant languages!! But wait, they prefer to hire lazy Koreans.
