여러분 안녕하세요!
My name is Matt, and I posted my rsum here a couple weeks ago, and got a big response from several recruiters in South Korea, as well as a few in other countries representing various schools in South Korea. Of course, I've heard from a lot of people, many of whom have had prior experience working abroad, that one needs to be careful when going into a contract with one of these firms. So, I wanted to list the agencies that have contacted me and ask if any of you know anything about the reputation of these agencies, or if you have had any prior experience with them, positive and/or negative. I apologize in advance if this has come up in the boards before, I tried scouring them to the best of my ability and couldn't come up with the info I was looking for. Any advice any of you could provide would be greatly appreciated. 고맙습니다!

I would give Avalon and Newsome your business because both have more or less good reputations and I had good experiences with both of them. |

The recruiter you choose matters little in the grand scheme of things. As many posters say on these boards, their job is just to introduce you to the school, get their paycheck, and get out.
Choose the job/contract that you like the best, and go with the recruiter who happens to be offering it.
Verify everything the recruiter says about the school with the actual school, including incidental things like what items are in your apartment, how soon you will get your air ticket paid, etc. There is nothing that the recruiter says to you that is not worth verifying with the actual school in advance.
If the recruiter tells you to come to Korea for a year on anything other than an E2 working VISA, then its time to choose a more reputable recruiter. If the recruiter doesn't respond to your communications for more than 2 or 3 days, then it's time to choose a more reputable recruiter. If you catch the recruiter in any lie whatsoever, then it's time to choose a more reputable recruiter.
Other posters might mention other things to watch out for as well.
Final small word of advice: please be sure to search these forums for background before you sign up for an English Village job. |
