|

| If I could get an interview at the Hawaiian consulate it would be much more convenient for me, plus a paid overnight stay there. However, I am on the east coast and "my" consulate is in Atlanta. So how can I get an interview in Hawaii? If I gave them a bogus address, what will happen if I'm caught in a lie? I know this has been done before. |

Can't you tell them you want to get it done in Hawaii? I wouldn't give a fake address for something like this. |

| technically no because each consulate has jurisdiction over certain states, but I may be able to get an exception or waiver, but I want to hear from others how they've done it. |

I was about to ask this same question.
I'm supposed to be in Korea by next week, but Atlanta doesn't have openings until next week at the earliest. My recruiter told me to check with LA and Honolulu.
Problem is I called LA and they said I have to go to Atlanta.
Do I absolutely have to go to Atlanta? |

This is the same question I am asking, coincidentally I also "have" to go to Atlanta. I guess we aren't high profile enough to pull it off. |

| Yeah, you probably HAVE to go to your home consulate. It's really hit or miss though. When I got mine, I wanted to go to Houston to see my grandfather before I left, but my home consulate is Chicago, and they said no exceptions, I had to go there. But some of my friends here, they were allowed to do it over the phone, and I've heard that the consulates in Canada are a bit more flexible. But you're probably hosed. Sorry. |

If you're in Korea now, you should be able to take care of the visa at the consulate in Guam, which is an even closer and cheaper trip. That's what I did when I got my first E-2 visa back in March earlier this year.
I called them ahead of time to make sure they would do it. It seemed that they didn't process E-2's too often, since they had to look up the information on the procedure. But they said it was fine even though I wasn't a resident of Guam. When I got there, I drove over to the embassy and handed them my passport and paperwork. The worker mentioned something about coming back for an interview the next day. When I came back the day after, they already had my visa ready and handed it over to me - no interview or anything.
If you want go for Guam instead, you should probably give them a call ahead of time just to be sure they'll still do it. |

| I'm in the same boat. My interview is on the 17th in Atlanta. Best thing to do is just wait it out and enjoy the nice warm weather and fresh air while you have it. Enjoy being with your family for the holidays for one more little week. |

Hey,
I'm from Canada and I got my visa at the Hawaii consulate. Don't worry about it. Call them, ask them what they need and go there in person. Took me 24 hours and I was out the door. They are the least busy consulate on the face of the earth. I think they were just happy to have something to do. |
