My director caught me off guard today and asked me if I was interested in renewing my contract. I was surprised because I still have 4 months left so I didn't expect her to ask for another month or two.
She made it clear that she wants me to resign, and mentioned she was willing to increase my pay and # of holidays.
I'm still considering my options for next year, but I'm curious how others have done when renewing. If you don't mind telling me, what increases were you able to negotiate in your second contract. I'm not asking about how much you make, rather how much was your raise, # of extra holidays, additional benefits, etc.
I'm not trying to get a grand slam here, but I know she'll know what other hagwons give as increases and so if I know what others have received it will make it easier for me to determine a fair increase.
Thank you |

Ask for 500,000 more, then let her bargain you down to 4 or 350. Enough to offset the exchange rate fluctuations perhaps. Ask for a bigger and better place, if your current place is currently 8 pyong or moldy, etc. |

I said I NEED a 200,000 won raise to re-sign.
I don't believe in haggling, not over employment terms.
I get it, I re-sign; I don't and I walk. A kind but firm bargaining position is easy to maintain if the alternative to agreement you're willing to live with (in this case, not re-signing).
I got it. |
