Okay. I'm kind of getting some conflicting information here regarding what I need to send to get my CRC notarized at the consulate.

First, I live in Winnipeg, so I'm supposed to send everything to Toronto right? There are a few websites saying Vancouver has jurisdiction of Manitoba (which I don't understand why they would) while others say Toronto does.

Secondly, what I need to send are the original VSS CRC, a notarized copy by a local notary republic, the fee, return Xpresspost envelope, and a copy of my passport correct?

I'm a little confused because the Toronto consulate site says this:

Quote:
Vulnerable Sector Search Police Certificate Confirmation

1. Notarized vulnerable sector search police certificate (Notarization on the photocopy of original certificate)
2. Original Vulnerable sector search certificate.
3. Photocopy and an original of the photo ID ( Driver's License or Passport )
4. $2.20 per document (Cash or Money Order only, Personal cheque is not acceptable)

The wording makes it seem like I need to send a photocopy and my original passport...

So there shouldn't be any issue sending my passport? I just feel a bit uneasy about simply handing it over like that. That also kind of defeats the purpose of sending a photocopy if the original is there too.

I read the info on the Toronto website and was confused by the wording too. I made a post recently and followed the advice of Dude Ranch, so I sent my passport along with a photocopy, the fee, and originals + notarized copies of my docs. According to Xpresspost's online tracking system they received my documents last Wednesday morning (hopefully). I haven't heard anything from them yet. Apparently my return Xpresspost envelope tracking number is not in the online system yet.. so I don't think they've mailed my stuff back.

Sorry to hijack your post, but does anyone know how many days they typically take to confirm documents? It's been 4 days so far. I don't know if I should be worrying yet. I am starting to get paranoid that my documents are lost in the mail or something.. hopefully I'm just over-reacting!

Yeah this is taking forever and I'm getting worried now. I sent my documents out on Dec 1 by prepaid xpresspost to Toronto, with a prepaid return envelope inside. The tracking on the website said it was received Dec 4th. It is now Dec. 11 and there is nothing on the website saying they have sent it back at all. It has my passport in there as well.

I thought it was supposed to be a quick turnaround and I was to receive it in a few days. They have had it for a full week now and I have no idea what is going on.

Their phone line is pretty much useless as I can't get a hold of an actual person to talk to, it's completely automated. I hope I'm not screwed here.

I was in the same situation as you up until recently, and was worried that my documents had somehow got lost in the mail. I had tracked my documents and online it said that they had been received 2 days after I mailed them out. One week later, still no word about anything.

I called their phone line and got various voice mail inboxes... so after hitting "0" randomly, got through to a real person at reception and asked about my docs. They transferred me to the correct department and the girl told me that she had just received the documents the day before (??) .. she said they'd be mailed back by the end of the week, and 2 days later they arrived.

You might want to call and just check up on them and maybe they'll speed the process along.. good luck!! Smile
