Are you already in Korea? They offered me a contract and after agreeing, they immediately reneged on the pre-paid airfare clause in the contract.

nope not in Korea yet. I heard they were one of the better schools but maybe not. I take it you did not sign with them then?

Be prepared to pay for your own airfare there then. Even though it was in the contract we agreed upon that the airfare was pre-paid, they refused to do anything but reimburse me. I backed out of the deal because if they weren't following their end of the contract from the start, I didn't want to see what other things in the contract they may refuse to do.

I interviewed with them and was offered the job. Contract and everything looked good, but then they refused to let me talk to current teachers and that was a big red flag so I turned the job down.

They refused at first to let me speak with their teachers. After some persistence, I got the e-mail of one of their teachers. The teacher said everything was good there, but then they refused to pay the airfare they said they would.

This is the best advise I would give anyone contemplating working in Korea, especially a hagwon. Talk to current employees. It is the best gauge of the working environment you are committing a year of your life to.

I can't even imagine moving half way around the world and committing to a year long contract sight unseen.

If all foreigners coming to Korea did this, the benefits would be exponential.

A bad start if they lie about something in the contract before starting off. What else would they renege on?
