Well, my motherboard on my HP Pavillion dv6000 was wiped out. I have replaced it at a cost of 206,800 won. The HP representative drove to Ulsan from Busan. He picked up my computer. He replaced the "main board". It was returned to me today. My computer is 1.5 years old.
I tried to fix it locally, but I didn't have much luck. I have a few questions:
1) Was this a good deal?
2) What could have caused this failure? I would not like to repeat this process. |

Probably a voltage spike of some kind?
Obviously you don't remember spilling any water into it? |

I didn't think of voltage. Hmmm ... I think I need a new adapter. My plug is only two pronged. It doesn't have an input for the grounding plug. I will get right on that tomorrow. I guess that 3rd prong might be important.
Nope, there was no water involved. |

Do a search on the Internet. Many HP laptops have a problem with the motherboard frying. It is related to the fan not operating often enough to cool the board properly. You may be able to get the motherboard replaced under an extended warranty. My HP qualifies and I am sending it back to the US soon to get the motherboard replaced. I already talked to HP about this. Sucks I have to send it to the US though. |
