Hello. I'm new in town and I'm looking to meet some people to explore this city/country. Anyone in the Bundang/Yatap area? I would love to meet up with some folks for a drink or a bite to eat.

Hi Marcelery,

If you want to meet the local non-locals, head to Samsung Plaza (at Seohyeon Station) on a Wednesday night for open mike night at the Dublin Bar, across from the KFC. Also see here: http://wiki.galbijim.com/Dublin_Irish_Bar

For expensive coffees in a pleasant, almost European setting, head to Jeongja. Also good restaurants (also expensive) with some western style food, Chinese, Thai, Italian pasta, and burgers. Some good breakfast eats to be had as well at Butterfingers or the Diner (rooftop). There is a small store called - wait for it - "I love Cookie" which sells western foods and sundries for an exorbitant price. It is next to the wine shop amongst the arched walkways. There is also a health food store and a Sony store there which offers repair and cleaning services.

Are you aware of the sports complex at Yatap? They have an indoor skating rink which has free skating times on Saturdays and Sundays. They rent skates. Not the best but there is a hockey gear store on the road approaching the center if you want to go for broke. It's called Jim Paek (or Baek) Sports. There is a pool too. Haven't tried it.

There are two other rinks in the Samsung plaza area - at least - one of which is outdoors. I don't think it is open yet.

By the way, there is a rink at the Hyatt near Itaewon - expensive and small, but a nice view of the city - and another at the Sheraton Grand Walker Hill with a view of the Han river - much bigger but I haven't made it there yet.

If you are on facebook, you can also check out the Bundang Social Club for a few events and get togethers.
