Hey I've been accepted into smoe for Feb/March 2009, I was just wondering how many people from last round got placed where, or near to, their requested areas?
Thanks! |

Have you taught here before so you might have some idea where you want to be assigned? To the best of my understanding most of the prime slots are filled. But there will always be the need for replacements. Why can't SMOE keep teachers longer? Turnover is always taking place and people considering the midnight run are still around. |

Hey,
yes, I taught last year but with gepik. I'm just trying to see what the odds of getting placed where I requested [Hongdae/Gangnam]. I'd be happy anywhere near center Seoul. I am living in fear of being placed at the end of one of the lines! |

Your odds of getting hongdae/gangnam are slim-to-none. Probably about 1/2 of the people teaching in Korea already who applied for the same job have requested that place. Hongdae has all the clubs, gangnam schools have all the money. You'd be smarter to choose an area near there that people might not have requested that way they won't ship you out to the end of line 1 somewhere.
I requested a specific school when I applied last year and they had no problem giving it to me. I would suggest emailing them and requesting a different area somewhere like Dongdaemun, Yongsan, Silim, Sindorim, or Konkuk University. But there are about 3 people working at SMOE and no one seems to care to answer emails. |

The ends of line 1 are not in Seoul and not in SMOE's jurisdiction.
The ends of line 6 are, though. |
