|
|
Just before the presidential election last year, Lee Myung Bak vowed to donate his huge personal fortune (except for his house) to charity, if elected. He subsequently went into office by a landslide, but he has failed to carry through on the promise to give away his fortune.
All talk of this promise has been quietly swept under the carpet, and Korean people seem to have forgotten about it. Do any of you remember?
Korea - hub of integrity, not! |

The source is my brain. I read the local papers and view the web sites. It ws all over the news last year. You can probably google it if you need a written source. Who else remembers this hollow promise? |

He never said he'd donate his entire fortune. I think he said he'd donate his annual salary to charity. So, that would be 5 years worth of Korean presidential salary. My guess it would be close to 1 billion won by the end of his term. |

No, he said he'd donate his salary (which to his credit he has done, so far), and his huge personal fortune (less the house in southern Seoul). Trust me on this one! |

Not as far as I can throw you. Surely there is a news story which covered this promise? It'd be a big deal. |

Are you sure about this? Then, except for what he could sell his house for, he would have no money. |

Don't you people read the paper? It was all over the news. In fact, he promised to give it to charity, even if he lost the election! Talk about a massive vote buying scam!
And the Korean voters were naive/foolish enough to believe it. Haha! And, in true Korean fashion, after being elected he reneged on his promise! Haha, Koreans are so lacking in integrity! What more glaring example could there be than this one?
If you need sources just google Lee Myung Bak promises to give/donate personal fortune/wealth to charity. You'll see numerous stories there. |

He won't do it. What CEO is going to give away his wealth? They'd blow it on ping pong shows before they'd help the poor and needy or give back to their country. |

Yeah, he certainly didn't follow through on it before:
Quote: |
As mayor of Seoul for four years, he donated all of his monthly pay to scholarship funds for children of street sweepers and firefighters. |
and he's been donating his current salary. how much of your salary are you donating? |
