Hey,
Just wondering if anyone knows of this area in eastern Seoul. It is on the purple line. Is it a built up area with all the amenities one can expect in an urban Korean neighbourhood? I've been offered a job at a public school there, and would be interested in any info or feedback on the vicinity. I am familiar with Seoul in general, but no clue about that region.
Thanks. |

Geubandari is fine... nice place with many foreigners living in and around it.
Plus if you will be living there (not just teaching there) - then you are
just down the road from GS Supermarket
7 minutes by bus from Olympic park..
3 minutes away from Cheonho (Hyundai department store, E-mart, Kims Club)
10 minutes by bus from Jamsil (everything there)
35 minutes by subway from Itaewon
and it has all the amenities one can expect in an urban Korean neighbourhood... |

I live right next to Gubeundari station (Kumho apartment) and I haven't seen many foreigners. Oh well.
What public school did you get an offer for - I'm assuming Chunho middle school? I'm at the elementary.
If you do accept the position, send me a PM if you'd like to hang out.
P.S. There is a brand new HomeEver as of two weeks ago right at the station. Like the other person said, Gubeundari is relatively close to Olympic Park and a couple of other places, but don't expect too much in the immediate area. And it's more like 45-50 minutes to Itaewon. |

I teach at kindergartens there twice a week. The other posters are pretty much on target.
Nice area, but not exactly the happening centre of Seoul. Buy a bicycle and then you're within range of pretty much anything you need. |

| The school I was offered a position for was Daemyong Elementary. But due to some feedback from others in the STAR program opted out. |
