I'm quite pleased with the verdict.
I'm just a little concerned at how a young boy receives a 10 year jail sentence. .... Even though he is liable for his crime because of his age, I just feel a bit strange that he will get out at the age of 28. He will miss a huge part of his prime. Of course, it doesn't matter, he did what he did. And pushished as he should be.
I think the boy's disorder came into factor as they decided how long his term would be. I can't say I highly disagree but I thought they would think to give a lighter sentence than a heavier one considering he has a "mental disability" (which is arguable). |

ADHD is not a mental disability! In fact, during the hunter and gatherer days, it was probably highly advantageous to have ADHD.
Anyways, ADHD should not be used as an excuse for committing a crime. Nor is it a reason to given leniency.
On the other hand, in consideration of the bad parenting, a little bit of leniency might have been warranted. |
