My friend introduced me to Rammstein, a German band. I really like this song:

Here are German and English lyrics: really beautiful.:

Wish I knew more German.

Some of you may know the song "Amerika"

I've been listening to a lot of really good Brazilian music.

Os Mutantes and As Mercenarias to name two.

Where is the good contemporary Korean Music?

For good contemporary Korean music, try:

Sogyumo Acacia Band
http://www.myspace.com/sogyumoacaciaband

I found out about them at Pentaport, it's a guy and a girl, and it's a pretty good sound.

Though not technically 'foreign', Theivery Corporation has many awesome non-English songs, ranging from bossanova to hip-hop to reggae styles. Their latest album, "Radio Retaliaton" kicks serious butt, if you into that lounge-y type of music...

Also, Mano Negra/Manu Chao do similar type of stuff in a harder rock version, mixing English/French/Spanish/Arabic, sometimes in the same song...

Hey,

Mine would be Sigur Ros, from Iceland. Besides making great music, they have amazing music videos as well. I saw them live in Toronto a few years back...great show.

Thanks! What kind of music is this? I'm at work on what I assume to be a soviet era PC of some kind. It has no speakers and myspace won't load on it (prolly blocked the site can't tell if it's cause the computer is so bad).

Hmm not sure how I'd qualify their music! It's basically a duo with an acoustic guitar, a bit folky but they have an upbeat sound. My boyfriend is actually a music writer and he interviewed them for an article, we got to hang out with them and they're very nice, they love Sonic Youth and Neil Young.

I've been into Caetano Veloso for a little while, but only one album--"C" it's called. Good stuff, guitar and vocal, really stripped down.

Also I dig Renato Corosone, Italian superstar of the '50's and 60's.

The soundtrack of "Steve Zissou and the Life Aquatic" has a few old good Bowie songs sung in Portugese by a brazilian guy. Kinda cool

This is my favourite German course here:

http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,2548,00.html

It's called Deutsch - warum nicht? and is about a guy named Andreas that works in a hotel in a city called Aachen that has an invisible sprite friend called Ex.

That's a good song (Spieluhr), thanks.

I'm still looking for a good band/musician in Persian in case anyone knows of one.

From Italy. Circa, early '70s

Adriano Celentano -Prisencolinensinainciusol

In an attempt to sell more records in English speaking countries, Adriano decided to sing in 'fake' English. That's phonetic gibberish to you and me. The video is outrageous. I love it.

The track surfaced again recently, albeit on the underground, thanks in part to this Greg Wilson re-edit, which retains most of the original. Turn it up and make some shapes.
