Japan has one of the lowest birth rates in the world and new research shows its population could fall by 30 million in the next 40 years.
The Japanese Family Planning Association are now running a drive to get couples having more sex.
A recent survey of married couples under fifty found they had sex 45 times a year, less than half the world's 103-times-a-year average.
Most Japanese couples complain they are too tired for sex after a hard day's work, so the labour ministry is planning to exempt employees with children under three from overtime and limit them to six-hour days.
Meanwhile in Britain, a survey of 2,000 people has found sex to be the most popular free pastime among people, and that people are having more sex overall because of the recent economic downturn - boosting condom sales.

whats that like once a week??
emmm I read once that japanese couples have sex like 7-14 times a year!
now thats full on, once a month or once every two months..
but im wondering who are they are asking for these surveys
If they just asked the husband how many times are you having sex a year
he will probably reply
" with my wife?" or you mean just sex? hahahahaha
probably goes for korean men too... |

Preople from countries or cities which produce lots of pornography tend to have less sex (e.g. Japan.HongKong)
In order to boost sex, governments should ban pornography first...maybe not all.  |

Cite source? I think you might be right, though. But I think you worded it wrong. Countries where people have less sex have a higher demand for pornography; people need some self help to spank the salami or doodle the dandy in those countries since those folks are not getting any externally... demand drives the market.
Does that mean that the UK has a smaller porn industry? |

First of all, I support the viewpoint that too much work and stress deprive people's fun time. The pornography might just be another straw (not the last straw yet).
There isnt obvious relation between pornography industry and general sex drive... generally speaking, all races in the world might have very similar desire elvel.
Pornography might be a 2-edged sword. Just like, the US produces way much food than needed... Industry is industry, it is developed to meet need in the first place but after the need is saturated, industry would try to boost ill need.
Pornagraphy to some extend helps people explore their sexuality, but once the industry is over developed, it inevitably goes to a wrong direction...I have to say some pornography I saw was just horrible and insane. Do they really help you become more sexually powerful? I reckon they may just make normal sex life boring and your gf/wife less desirable....
Dont take me seriously. Anyway. |

I mean, I didnt say it. That article said it. You're probably right, people around the world are all more or less the same. My wife, who is Chinese, thinks Asian women have a lower sex drive than caucasian women, but maybe she just says that because I have a much higer sex drive than she does 
So, like we both agreed, people all over the world are the same. However, cultures are not all the same. Japanese, in particular, are noted for being polite and careful on the surface and then quite different in their own minds. Of all the Asian countries -- all of which have this dynamic to a certain extent, anyway -- Japan is the one in which people are most likely to do and say one thing but feel and desire another thing. That's why, on the one hand, the people feel uncomfortable talking about sex or any other taboo topic in the open, but then they have this crazy weird porn industry and sex culture lurking in the background. Another example, in Japan, when you ride the subway, everyone is so polite and quiet and they seem the ultimate minders of their own business. Yet, Japan is the only place I've been so far where they have cars for women only. There must be some reason they did that in Japan. Maybe all those sexually repressed and twisted guys have no other means to get their feel on so they go and touch up some women on the subway? I would think that's the same reason they have alot of weird porn in Japan, too. Its only human to require sexual release (orgasm) and if you're not getting it with another person, you have to settle for your left (or right) hand.
As to why its so weird in Japan, I guess that probably has to do somewhat with their history and religious/political (one in the same) beliefs, too.
What surprises me is that the UK isnt more like Japan. Those two places actually seem to have alot more in common.. maybe its because the 60s/70s had more the same effect in UK as in the USA and that effect didnt occur at all in Japan. |
