I just booked a trip from Seoul to Singapore for a few days through Aeroplan. After I'd selected the times I wanted, I had to call the Aeroplan office in Canada to calculate the taxes that I'd have to pay. The guy I talked to was on the computer for a bit, and then he told me I didn't have to pay any taxes because they didn't collect taxes for South Korea or Singapore. He didn't really seem to know what he was doing, so I'm a little confused.
So, have any of you booked a trip over here using Aeroplan, and can tell me how it works? I assume I'm going to show up at the airport and will have to pay the taxes to the airline (Singapore Airlines). And if that's the case, any idea how much money I'm looking at? |

I did booked the exact same flight a month ago.
I used my aeroplan miles to book 2 seats from Seoul to Singapore in January. I got the same message and called expecting to have to pay the taxes and such and the man I talked to said there weren't any that I needed to pay. Which really surprised me since I usually have to pay $100 or so when booking in Canada. My etickets arrived shortly after. So everything looks in order. I'm not sure if I'll have to pay any fees when I get to or fly out of Singapore, but the guy I talked to at aeroplan didn't seem to think so. |
