I'm flying home to Australia via an 8-hour layover in Hanoi Airport. I'll be arriving in the airport at 1.50pm on a Saturday. Flight to Australia leaves at 9.10pm. Anything interesting in the airport? Would I have enough time to go through security and Immigration to then leave the airport and head out somewhere? Any recommendations? |

I was there about 7 years ago. The airport was really far from town and cost about $20 for the taxi. That was a long time ago, maybe it moved.
Most everybody needs a visa for vietnam. I got my visa in Bangkok and was a little put off by the fact I had to pay extra to get the visa in a timely manner (if you don't pay, your passport goes into the slow pile). But you seem to have plenty of time, if they even to that here in Seoul.
With the distance and visa price, may not be a good idea to leave the Hanoi airport. |

i was there 3 months ago.
it is far away from the city hanoi, about 45 min drive.
It should not cost over 400,000 dong = about 25$.
Taxi will try their best to rip you off, don't trust any "officer" in that country.
Vietnam is known for its corrupted government, and really there isn't a DAMN thing to do at that ugly airport. The airport even though quite new, it hell sure doesn't look like it.
Bad airport service -_-. if you try to ask "where the gate...so and so" to one of the counter desk people, they will automatically say "I don't know". |

oops, my bad, actually it's Tan Son Nhut airport at Ho Chi Minh, but from what I've researched it doesn't sound too great either! |
