|
|
Hello everyone. I am a newbie planning to make the leap in April. I was just wondering if dental insurance is pretty standard with most hagwons, or if it's something I really need to make sure is specified in the contract. Also, generally speaking, does the dental insurance actually cover a good portion of expenses? It seems like insurance here in the States is pretty much maxed out by the time you have your x-rays and yearly cleaning done. Thanks for your help/ advice! |

The standard health insurance covers some basic things, and costs for basic things are pretty low anyway. |

Wow. That was....helpful. I have spent months "reading The Stickies," and haven't found much on dental. And a lot of those posts date back to 2003. But thank you for the sage wisdom. |

some things (like fillings and extractions) are covered in the NHIC (national medical).
Many other things are subsidized or low cost compared to home.
Be aware that most (in excess of 80%) hakwons do NOT enroll you in the national medical plan (in spite of what the contract says).
Dental work is still cheap in Korea.

Thank you so much, ttompatz! I was worried about the insurance, and had seen conflicting and various information between actual contracts and
some personal experiences. I guess Korea should be called "The Land of the Morning Contradictions."
Thank you for helping to clarify! |
