What are my options in this situation? I have 3 days after today in which my school HAS to give me a document so I can go to immi and get my visa extended. Last year, when I re-signed, I agreed to do the bastards a favor and stay 2 extra months. My visa ends on the 28th of this month. They are taking their sweet time about helping me out here and I have repeatedly told them I must leave by the 28th or I will be illegal. What can I do to make sure they pay me this month's salary, my severance and at least part of the plane ticket I will have to buy to fly out of here to save my butt from being illegal? I am tired ofplaying games with these losers. I am contracted until the end of february. I think they owe me all my money and some hardship repurcussions for forcing me to buy a plane ticket like this. Bastards!!!

I think it would be begging to not get paid if you leave the country before you DO get paid. Extend your visa, stay and make sure you get all your money.

You don't have to extend your VISA, you have to extend your ARC. The expiration date on your VISA means nothing. The only date that matters is the one on your ARC. If you are contracted until the end of February, just take the contract, your ARC, a copy of the school's business license, and, I think, 30,000 to the immi office and do it yourself.

You're freaking out, m'lady. Stay until the end of your written and verbal contracts, and collect your pay. Raise hell then, if you don't get yours.

This IS my ARC I am talking about It is stamped the 28th of this month. My school is jacking me around making me wait on the school's business license paper. I am waiting on these idiots to give it to me and they won'tgive it to me...so I can't go to immi without it. That is why I am complaining so much. If they won't give it to me, and I can't go to immi, then I am NOT obligated to stay until the end of February..contract or no contract...The contract means nothing. The back of my arc does. The date on the back of your arc is your visa...DUH!

Ha! I was just told they will give me the paper by onday or Tuesday for me to go to immi..yes, in the 11th freaking hour. I am still so angry, and this is why I can't see my family for Christmas this year...waiting around on this crap to get sorted. I told them months ago when my arc date expired. I hate this place!

Since when do you need anything from the school to get a short extension to your ARC? This is news to me, when I did it a couple of years back, I just went in on my own, paid the fees and done deal, no problems. What gives?

I guess things changed. According to what I was told, you have to have a business license paper to take with you these days. Plus, i have my CBC with the affadavit from the embassy and my health check, and some form I filled out, plus a picture, plus 30,000. My school changed its name a few months ago, so apparently it has taken them all week to draw up a stupid paper. Rolling Eyes

Nope, sorry, you're wrong. The date on the back of your ARC is the end of your sojourn, not your VISA. Your VISA allows you to enter the country. The ARC allows you to stay in the country. If your VISA expires, you just can't enter the country. There's a big difference.

And since you're not being a bitch to those who are offering advice or asking questions, *beep* you. I tried to be nice and give you the answer, but you obviously know everything already.

Go to the labor board. Sue the school! Burn the place down! Is that what you want to hear?

I bet u could get by w/ just the contract if ur renewing at the same school as they'd have the bizz reg on file already. They'd just call the school is my guess. Anyhow, I wouldn't sweat it. BTW, are u on good terms w/ ur school?

Well, excuse me, but I am very angry, and normally I am not this angry...but my travel plans are messed up now, and this will be year 3 I can't see my family for Christmas. I've cried about this for days. I know my visa is what is stamped in my passport, but I am talking about my arc date being extended by the 28th. They have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to do this, since holidays start on the 25th. So I am quite upset and you are nasty for saying what you said to a girl.
