I just got, as an Xmas gift, an American HP G50 Notebook. The internet connection at my place is dial up (KT megapass). Trying to go to between any two sites, downloading, Youtube stopping and starting are all heinous. Dial-up speed here vs. US broadband is far superior, no? A tech came over and swapped out his Korean Dell with my Notebook and his was lightning fast. Not speaking English he left after pointing to his dell and then to my connection and saying "HP notebook" implying that was the problem. I realize its a Black Friday budget machine. Thoughts on troubleshooting? |

You aren't confused, by chance, are you? You use dial-up, where the computer actually dials a telephone call? You sure it's not DSL through your phone line? What is your connection speed?
If you are not on old-fashioned dial-up, then the problem is likely because the tech didn't know English and couldn't figure out what to do with an English OS to fix it. That'd be my guess. Are you running some kind of firewall or something? |
