I was accidentally given a single-entry VISA when I came to Korea, now I'm renewing - and still have that single entry VISA.
Immigration says that they can't do anything about it, I just have to pay the extra 20,000 (for 50,000 total) to get a multiple entry permit when I renew my VISA.
So, it's only 20,000 extra won, but, how would I go about getting my VISA corrected into a multiple entry like it's suppose to be for Americans? If that is even possible? |

The same thing happened to me last year...but I only ended up leaving Korea once for vacation and even then its only 30,000 for a one-time use reentry stamp. Theyll probably just stamp something over the S ingle entry when you renew to change it to M ultiple. |

Well I have to pay 30,000 anyway to renew my VISA, and only an extra 20,000 upgrades me to multiple entry...so it's not a big deal, I'd just prefer if I didn't have to pay for the (consulates?) mistake.
And yeah, over the last year I already ended up paying for single-entry stamps twice. Once @ Incheon, and once online. |

I am American and had a single entry visa when I got here. I had them upgrade mine to the multi -- they had to take my passport for a couple of weeks, at which point they mailed it back to my school. It had a big stamp on the page next to the actual visa.
Not a big deal, but if you decide to get your Visa upgraded, make sure you won't be needing your passport for anything for a couple of weeks. |

Americans do not get a multiple re-entry visa upon renewal of an E-2. You might as well just buy it when you go to Immigration, and they will give you a new stamp in your passport. |

side note: In Mok-Dong Seoul immigration it only took about 20 minutes to get the stamp in my passport. |

You weren't accidentally given a single-entry visa. Just being American does not entitle you to a multi-entry stamp. I don't know where this rumor started, but it is wrong. |

Actually, I think it does. I'm American and always get one no charge when renew. |

No, I'm certain it's not just a rumor, because...
The woman at immigration confirmed that Americans are suppose to get multiple entry visas automatically, but that obviously a mistake had been made. She just said that immigration unfortunately didn't have the authority to override that mistake, so there was nothing they could do, and directed me to another agency. |

I've always received a M entry E2 - used to C4 also but they stopped doing those - everyone on a C4 now gets an S stamp (single entry)
as for the M's going to Americans - how else would the CIA slip in and out of the country w/as little fanfare as possible? |

I guess that the consulate made a mistake this time around when issuing my new visa then. Before I had a multi and now I have a single.
We do not get an automatic multiple entry stamp just because we are American without requesting and paying for it. |

The stamp no...but the visa itself should already be multiple entry. Though I've read here that about 30% of the time they forget to do so. The exact % you can take with a grain of salt, but it seems like in theory Americans are suppose to get a multiple-entry visa by default. |

Well, I'm an American, been here 12+ years, and have always had to pay for a multi-entry visa. Maybe you don't realize that you're paying for it. They tell you how much, you pay, and you get the multi !! |

Where exactly did you get this info that Americans get an automatic multiple entry visa upon coming to Korea? I want to know for future reference. Please share. |
