This is my first Christmas in Korea and so I'm wondering if Christmas is treated like any other holiday here where everything is open, or is it like back home where almost every restaurant is closed for the day?

Where's "back home"? Most restaurants "back home" for me are open.

Actually most restaurants are not only open on Christmas day here, but unless you want kimchi chigae, you'll have a hard time finding a place that's not booked full of couples.

Christmas Day is the second Valentine`s Day in Korea. OP, if you want anything remotely decent then try to book ahead. I know for one thing that Mad for Garlic at Sadang said they were full, no reservations.

Unfortunately, for the poor souls who work in restaurants, they will be open. One of my friends and everyone she works with will be stuck working at the restaurant on Christmas Day. If you are a singletree, you better hibernate on the 24th or 25th. It will be couples, couples everywhere. I will mostly hibernate because my guy isn't here in Korea right now. Hello, telephone Christmas, thanks to my job shafting me on my vacation.
