|
So todays lesson (1st grade middle school) was about Christmas wishes and they could be anything - I picked the usual Lee Hyo-Ri, Jeju Island etc and the kids wrote down the usual (new mobile phone, marry some halfwit out of bigbang etc)
This one girl wrote down as her first christmas wish 'The destruction of America' and I burst out laughing - I asked her what she meant and she said she didn't want the physical destruction of America but just its economic downfall where it becomes a third world country.
She did this with the aid of a pocket translator! I never give the kids sweets for good work but I think I would have given her a snickers bar for that effort! |

An infinitely brilliant choice that would certainly work out splendidly for Korea. The Christmas spirit is in the air. She is obviously wise beyond her years. |

Living up to your username I see.
I frequently have to apologize to Koreans on America's behalf. "Sorry for liberating your country. Twice." |

Did you do anything to liberate South Korea? Such as pick up a rifle? Thats something my own father can claim and he has a British passport - I don't mention it unless a class is being really cheeky! |

Bundangbabo, you son of a bitch! I'm gonna beat you down next time I see you at boxing practice for supporting the destruction of my home country. You are dead buddy....dead.
although, the economic collapse of america could make it quite easy for me to pay off my studentl loans.... but then again, if america collapses, we will take everyone else with us. |

America saved Korea. It had nothing to be with me or just about anybody I know, and yet that fact remains. Funny things, those facts... |

I don't agree with the destruction of your wonderful country! I think the United States has done a lot for South Korea! I was impressed though that she didn't choose the typical 'I want a new cellphone' as a christmas wish and instead chose the destruction of America!
You should have been there mate, it was as funny as! |

This is actually, in my opinion, very sad and pathetic. It is obvious that she is not wise beyond her years but rather a product of her parent's stupidity. The US has done many things wrong, granted, but the United States is the one economy in the world that the world cannot afford to default. The world would implode. |

Yes, but I like teaching that age--it's like a window into Koreans behind closed doors. |

It's fun to smack your head against a symbolic entity.
Really, try it, it's been all the rage for the history of humanity. |

I'm not exactly an apologist, but who would ever have guessed that a first grade middle school student, in what was supposed to be a fun activity would be unable to combine maturity and a savvy political take? I won't speak for Americans, but you would never, ever see such a stupid, ignorant puerile comment in an Ontario HIGH school classroom, let alone grade 7. |

When Koreans tell me they love Canada, I can say "you're welcome". You know, because Canada was in the Korean War too... as were a lot of countries.
I think that point is lost on a lot of Americans. |

Obama hasn't even been sworn in and already everyone hates us again?
If America did become a poor country then the world would be mad at us for not buying their consumer products. See, we can never make you guys happy. |

Among the UN forces , the US bore the lion's share of troops, troops killed, and troops wounded, upwards of 75 percent. This is not counting the Korean troops, of course. |
