This is why Korea shouldn't be allowed to have zoos. These people have no idea how to take care of animals.

Remember the show where they put some monkeys, some dogs, a goat, and a few other animals together in a room and then put down a plate of food to see what would happen? (The biggest dog got it, btw). Or the monkey wearing a lead they stuck in with some tiger cubs? Yeah, it's probably very irresponsible but it is kind of funny to watch and something you wouldn't see in too many countries.

My wife and I were watching a Korean tv show that was about a family that basically had their own zoo. They had a variety of animals including a bear. These animals all lived in seperate, but small cages. The worst part of the show was watching a 3 year old running around with all of the animals. One of them could easily attack or even step on him.

I doubt there are, but does anyone know of any animal rights laws in Korea?

A lot of clips of these shows are on Naver, if you have the patience to sift through all of the crap.

I watch the shows once in a while, and sometimes you do have people who genuinely care about animals. But more and more the shows like Zoo Zoo Club make me angry. The worst one I've seen was of a guy who had a couple dogs and a pet monkey. Chmpanzee, maybe, I don't remember. It was bad enough that all were uncaged, and ran around together. Chimps are really strong, and can do a lot of damage to a little lap dog, including ripping it in half should he get irritated enough. The camera guys followed the chimp around as it "played" with the little terriers.

I thought that would be the low-light, but it turned out the chimp was also addicted to cigarettes. He wouldn't smoke them but he would eat them. So the camera showed the guy leaving out packs of cigarettes and the monkey ripping them apart to eat them.

Zoo Zoo Club also operates travelling zoos, one of which I happened to catch in Mokpo. It was pretty bad, with monkeys and other animals in tiny cages to be poked and prodded by passers by. People were picking up the tortoises, and one adjosshi picked one up and threw it at another. The dogs were tied to the tent poles, and people would run up, get the dog's attention, then run away as the dogs would have their necks jerked back trying to run from their three-foot leash.

I fucking hate the animal cruelty/ignorance that happens in this country. I can't help but think 'you fcking idiotic peasants..'
I know, I know other countries have idiots too...but zookeepers?
