Hi there,
I just graduated this month with a B.A. and want to come to Korea around March. Will recruiters or GEPIK even bother with me now that I don't have a degree copy to give them? It won't even be posted to my transcript that I've graduated until late next month.
I get conflicting reports as to what is required for the visa, specifically the criminal background check. If someone could explain to me in simple terms what, as an American, I need in this regard it would be much appreciated. Also if I should do it before I leave the country--I'm going to New Zealand in about a week and will be there until I go to Korea. |

Moved this here from General since it's more pertinent to this forum. |

The short answer is - "No."
The long answer is - "Maybe... it depends on the dates and the Immigration officer." |

For the criminal background check, I went to my local police department. Got the background check (free). Then mailed it out to Tallahassee (FL capital) to get apostillized. It took a while to get back. That seems to be what they want. |

I don't know about GEPIK, but EPIK has accepted my application even though I won't have a copy of my degree til March. They said a letter from my school stating precisely and explicitly when I will graduate is enough. Once I do get my grades finalized and graduation completed next month, EPIK wants a letter stating that I have graduated and an official transcript that would state the same. In march I also need to send a copy of my degree to them. |

Thank you very much, both questions answered. Looks like I can go ahead and apply now. |
