|
|
I was curious if anyone had any suggestions of hotels/ motels/ hostels to stay in in Bagkok. There are several areas, and I want to be able to travel easily. I also would like to be able to use the bus systems.
Any help would be much appreciated! |

Kind of depends on your budget. If you want to go cheap, stick to Kao San Road. Not great for buses, but the roads in Bangkok suck anyways. Very convenient if you want to get around on river boats. Prices there are pretty well under 1000 baht a night. More guest house-type places. Younger crowd.
If you want to go stay in a hotel type place, go to Sukhumvit. Prices for a hotel there range from 1000 - 2500 baht a night. Generally older crowd. |

I have to put in a plug for my old stand by; The Golden Palace on Sukhumvit Soi 1. Friendly, helpful staff. They have re-done the rooms. A/C works very well. Safes and cable TV in the rooms. If you're travelling elsewhere they'll keep your extra luggage for free. The clincher for me is the pool in the courtyard. Buy one beer off their guy and get the rest from the nearby 7-11. Many a day I've never left the pool deck.
Also, You're just off the sky train stop at Ploenchit which makes a world of difference in regards to getting around, and Sukhumvit has distractions for all tastes, times and themes.
Expect to pay around 12-1300 TB. If that's too much, get a room across the street at the place above the German Restaurant Tilak for less, no pool though. |

walk down Kao san rd with Starbucks on your right when you get to the end of the rd turn right -
cross over the street and take your first left walk 100 metres past and on your right side there is a hotel down an alley way with an indian restaurant outside.
rooms there go from like 300 up tp 1000 baht a night. I paid 600 baht there last time.
there is a pool there on the roof. |

| there are many hotels in the alley ways (soi) of the first stretch of Sukumvit... the one across from nana plaza might be sleazy, but its cheap and clean... and is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION |

This place looked cool as hell and my communications with them went well. We could not get there from Krabi as the airlines were shut down so we stayed in the Krabi area. If we go back to BKK we will take other's advise and stay here.

In addition, the place is very much anti-sex tourist which suited us well. |

Anti-sex tourist just means they turn away any Farang- Thai couple that appear suspect. Including married people. |

All these places are hurting bad. They need customers. 2000B-3000B a night is a good deal. |
