What would happen if .... I decided to opt out of my contract that I have signed and sent to my recruiter? I am not in Korea and I do not have all the documents ready to go, however, I sent my recruiter a contract stating that I would join with a certain school. It is slated to start in early December. Can they take any legal actions against me, becuase I have signed this contract? Or can I just walk away a free man?? I am interested to know, please help. The reason I am considering this is because the notion of working on saturdays doesnt appeal to me.
please i am looking for guidance!!! |

You can still opt out. You haven't sent them anything, they haven't even started applying for your visa issuance. Don't worry, keep looking, there are lots of jobs out there that don't require Saturday work. Just tell the recruiter that you are delayed 6 months because of this or that.
They might threaten, but they are empty threats. They can't do anything. |

the recruiter will put you on a black list, which means, you must go to one of the other hundreds of recruiters. Immigration will not care. |

I did that a couple of years ago. They did nothing to me. It was with Wonderland. I signed the contract and then found out how crap they are. So I told them my mother was sick and had to cancel. |

the pre requisite to the contract is the E2 Visa. Without the E2 the contract has no meaning. |

Just tell them you can't come to Korea. You haven't sent them your other documents, you'll be ok. Even if they find out later you started working here they are not going to care because they should have another teacher by then. |

Just for interests sake, what would happen if you had sent your documents (degree, signed contract, bla bla) and been given the insrance number, but not your Visa. What would happen if you decided to bail at this late stage? |
